Dolphins are cetaceans and they belongs to the family of Delphinidae both oceanic and river dolphins. They are highly adaptive to the water life. Dolphins are mammals and alike other mammals they have warm blood, breathe through their lungs and give birth to young ones. They are very intelligent and can communicate too.

The food that dolphins eat depend upon its different species. Fish, squids, mackerels, herring, octopus, cod and cephalopods are the common ones that dolphins eat. It is difficult to estimate that exactly how much food a dolphin consumes, they can consume anywhere between 2%-10%of their body weight each day.

COMMERSON’S DOLPHINS: feed on small fish, crab, octopus and small crustaceans that kelp on the beds of sea shore.

ROUGH-TOOTHED DOLPHINS: they live in deep oceans and feed themselves generally on squids
